Royal Chitwan Nation Park

Her are the pictures from my trip to Royal Chitwan National Park.

The royal palace in Kathmandu.

A three wheeled vehicle that is a taxi/bus in Kathmandu.

The view on the way from Kathmandu to Chitwan.

Water Buffalo near Chitwan.

There are lots of elephant in Chitwan mostly captive ones that are used for working and to Carry tourists around. There are also some wild ones that can be very dangerous.

We went for a boat ride on the Rapti river.

This is a Marsh Mugger Crocodile.

We went to an elephant breeding center and got to feed biscuits to the baby elephants.

They also took water from our water bottles and drank it.

We were brought to the river by our guide for "elephant bathing". We didn't know what to expect. Sandi, A guy from Belgium and I were the first ones to get on the elephant that was being bathed in the river.

We were fine when the elephant was sitting down, but when she stood up we started screaming and laughing! She sprayed us several times with water from her trunk and then sat down so we all fell off.
We actually did bathe her. This was just rubbing her skin with a rock.

We also got to ride an elephant. The first thing we did on the elephant was our "driver" bought something at the store. We thought that was very amusing.

Me, Maya, Parvati, and Sandi on our way to Chitwan Park. The driver is behind the elephant's trunk.

As soon as we entered the park we saw a rhino and her baby!

We crossed the river on the elephant. The driver steered the elephant with his feet and verbal commands. He also had a stick that he poked her with some times. Our driver seemed to be very nice to his elephant. He let her eat along the way and he said she liked to break sticks so he let her do that too.

Next to the park is a Tharu village. I love the houses.

An elephant being unloaded.
I had agreat time in Chitwan!!
